How to measure a wrist without a tape

A paper strip and a ruler give a truer measure than guessing by eye.

Cut a strip of paper about a centimetre wide, wrap it around the wrist right beside the bone and mark where the ends meet. Unroll it and read the length against a ruler.

A cord with a sliding knot covers a few centimetres of range, so 16 cm suits a narrow wrist, 17 cm most, and 18 cm wider ones. Stone and pearl have no sliding knot, so round up for those.
